The Samsung Electronics company is starting to open a new mobile-phone plant in Bac Ninh province, Viet Nam. The Samsung Electronics Viet Nam Co Ltd (SEV) made the inauguration of its world-class mobile phone production factory worth about US$700 million in the northern Bac Ninh Province yesterday. This factory lies in a total area of 50 hectares at the Yen Phong Industrial Zone No 1, in Yen Phong District. It has producted 100 million cell phones annually by 2012, and most of its products will be exported to all over the world. It is estimated to hit an annual export value of up to $4.5-5 billion by 2010.
The Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung affirmed that this was a project of regional and international standards, at the opening ceremony.”The factory will make great contributions to the socio-economic development of Bac Ninh and the nation,” he said.
The Government would continue generating favourable conditions for Replica Samsung Phones Viet Nam to develop further. The Government would also issue preferential policies to help the company undertake its production localisation process in Viet Nam, he said.
Dung appreciated the efforts of leaders of Bac Ninh People’s Committee in reaching an economic growth rate of 12 per cent last year and in striving 16 per cent this year, even in the face of the global economic crisis.
Yoo Young-bok, president of SEV, said that the facility was completed only one year after it officially received its licence from Bac Ninh Province’s Industrial Zone Management Board, in March 2008.
President of the Samsung Electronics Company Choi Gee Sung said, “Samsung is the world’s second-largest mobile handset maker and it has an ambitious target to become the leader. We hope the factory in Viet Nam will make great contributions to help raise its position to the top.”
“SEV currently employed more than 2,300 labourers, and could need an additional 10,000 workers in the future. I consider Bac Ninh and Viet Nam to be my second home, and I’m committed to try my best to boost development of the factory to contribute to raising Viet Nam’s position in the world arena,” he said.
Im Hong-jae, Ambassador of South Korea to Viet Nam, said that South Korea was the second-largest investor in the country, with 1,700 enterprises and generating about 350,000 jobs for Vietnamese people.
Chairman of the Bac Ninh People’s Committee Tran Van Tuy said that about 32 Korean firms had invested in the province with a total capital of $976 million, accounting for one-third of its foreign direct investment (FDI) capital.
Samsung’s project was expected to attract FDI from international suppliers, with a combined capital of more than $300 million. SEV has 17 suppliers that have already invested into Bac Ninh, among which six companies have started supplying to it.
SEV is the 7th mobile factory of Samsung in the world and Viet Nam is the 5th country to have a Samsung Replica mobile phone factory. Other nations are South Korea, China, India and Brazil. With the first export batch in April 2009, SEV had become an official member of the Samsung global supply chain of the mobile phone industry, the company said.
Samsung Electronics Co, the global leader in semiconductors, telecommunications, digital media and digital convergence technologies, now has 150,000 workers at 134 offices in 62 countries.
