Our society has a whole set of descriptive terms for what many employees feel about their work. “The daily grind.” “Monday morning blues.” “TGIF — Thank God It’s Friday!” It’s a sad commentary on how many of us spend our lives making a living and trying to ignore the fact that we are not making a life. This is one of the reasons people are flocking to the Internet to create lucrative online businesses and to regain control over their time.
We trade precious hours of our lives to someone or some company that buys that time with money. And most often, not nearly enough money for the sacrifices we make. Family time is minimal. Relaxation is nearly non-existent. Having enough money for a minor vacation is a struggle. Stress runs rampant.
We are conditioned from an early age that education is the key. Get a good education so you can get a good job so you can make good money. If we’re lucky, our parents instill in us the drive to become self-employed. But even then, it’s far too easy to create a “j-o-b” for ourselves, and continue to trade our time for money.
Is there another way? Can we create a different, more rewarding life? Yes, absolutely. To do so, we must let go of the “employee” mindset and truly create a business that provides an income that is not based on the number of hours we can work, but is based on the value we can provide to others. If it’s a home-based business, so much the better.
How do we provide value? The most important step really has very little to do with any product or service. It has to do with one’s mindset and time spent on personal growth and learning to develop your leadership skills. Learn to be the leader that others want to follow. If you can do that, then you can create an immensely successful business, no matter what field you enter. People will be drawn to you and your business will flourish. This can be demonstrated most dramatically in the online business arena, where you can quickly become the “go to guy or gal” for your type of business, while investing far less time than you do as an employee, simply by demonstrating leadership in your chosen field.
If you are an employee who is dreading your next Monday morning, create a new path for yourself. A home-based online business provides a tremendous amount of time and money freedom. Life is too short to spend it dreading the start of another week, then wishing that week away so you can get to the next weekend.
